Symplectic is a web based publications management system. It records articles, books, conferences, patents etc.
Records are updated fortnightly: the system automatic searches PubMed, Web of Science, Web of Knowledge, Scopus etc.

Symplectic is flexible, it is possible to:

  • expand or narrow down the search settings
  • add manually a publication
  • nominate a delegate (see below)
Note: only account holders can nominate delegates, not Departmental users

How to access Symplectic

Instruction documents are available within the help section of Symplectic.

How to nominate a Delegate

Click on ‘Account Settings’ (top-right corner) and type the delegate's surname in the Delegate field

The person might need to be added to the system first; please send a request to Symplectic with the person's full name (incl. title), email address and SSO.

Note: only account holders can nominate delegates, not Departmental users

How to impersonate a designated PI

  • Click 'impersonate another user'
  • In the box 'Filter on', type the PI's surname in the field 'Name contains'; click 'Go'
  • In the box 'Manage publications for another user', click on the PI's name

Now you are impersonating this PI

Note: Non-active accounts are highlighted in gray in the impersonation list. They will not appear in reports, unless you tick 'Include non-current users'.

On the profile tab, type the PI's surname in the field 'find a colleague'
